E3 2014 | Microsoft Press Conference

Microsoft at E3 2014

Microsoft took the time this afternoon to introduce us to many new franchises and remind us of the awesomeness of the old ones. They are ushering in a new era of exciting video games that will make XBox One a common standard for video gaming consoles worldwide.

It is official, XBox One will be launching Platinum games into their arsenal in the near future, touching our favorite titles over the ages, and renewing the vigor of their fanbase.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Activision has shown a long gameplay demo of their newest installment to the Call of Duty franchise. Set sometime in the moderately distant future it seems like everything we have come to expect from the single player mode of a modern CoD game. In-game cutscenes that take control of your character away from you while you watch the story unfold and shooting bad guys from behind, next to, and on top of cover. There are a host of pretty neat looking new guns and grenades as well as interesting new cover mechanics behind energy shields and car doors. From this demo there is a strong Titanfall mixed with Halo mixed with CoD vibe.

Bonus: Near the end of the video there is a cutscene that seems to feature Kevin Spacey, so thats pretty neat.

 Assassins Creed Unity

“Redefining the gaming experience” – Ubisoft has announced they will be adding definitive new features to their hugely famous title that will allow for you and up to three of your friends to create your own ‘Assassins Guild.’ From the exclusive gameplay demo at e3 it appears that this will include co-operative missions: a unique and dynamic way to share in the spoils of the upcoming French Revolution. We’re sure that’s only a taste of what’s to come!

Fable Legends

Co-Operative gaming and customization of your hero, while including a different dimension that bears a sense of ‘pvp’ in a way rarely utilized. The ‘villains’ (or dungeon master) in this game are able to be the mastermind and customize which challenges the heroes face, while also being able to adjust the fighting style of their minions on the fly.

Halo 5 Guardians / Master Chief Collection

The game that is synonymous with the creation of the original XBox has seen our appetite revitalized with this emotional reintroduction of 343’s icon: the Master Chief.

Halo 5 Gaurdians didn’t get much screen time at this presentation but we did get a peak at what could possibly be the best collection of games of all time.

Halo Master Chief Collection –  November 11th

This collection represents every game that has ever been produced within the Halo franchise. This package will include a feature that will allow for you to play through any moment or customize your favorite moments from any(all) of these games into one video (or possibly slideshow). This will also have the built-in graphics switch from ‘classic’ to the new gfx throughout the entire collection. All of the multi-player maps ever created throughout these series will all be included and will be remastered in full 1080p HD resolution. As announced at e3, this will also include Halo Nightfall, a Ridley Scott  digital series production.

Bonus: Beta access to Halo 5 Gaurdians will be available to those who purchase the Master Chief Collection. Beta begins in December 2014.

Tom Clancy’s The Division

A co-operative and tactical third person shooter that will draw our excitement to a customized tactical group based experience. You will work with your friends to accomplish missions in a bombed and burnt out New York City. The city includes a very dynamic and open world that will allow you to explore the city, and even the subway extensively.
