Driver: San Francisco

Did anyone else play the original Driver and that stupid training mode in the parking garage. As difficult as that was it was one of the more memorable training missions in any game I’ve played (probably because I yelled at my tv the entire time). The original Driver was great then they moved to a slightly bad game with Driver 2 and then a pretty good game with Driv3r. Well look back to E3 2010 and we’ve got a chance to preview Driver: San Francisco. San Francisco seems to be an excellent town to set a Driver game in, with the iconic bridges and hills and whatnot, and is looking to be epic if it is done well.

Check out the trailer:

and here’s what you’ve been waiting for, the gameplay trailer:

I don’t know about you guys but it looks pretty epic to me. I’m not sure if I like the whole quantum shift/leap thing, it seems a little gimmicky (ok a lot gimmicky). The thing that really got me into the Driver series was the fluid, realistic gameplay. While it may be cool and the story may explain why you get to randomly jump from car to car, I’m not sure that I’m into it. Sorry Ubisoft but I’d like to see another Driver game where I sit in a parking garage learning ridiculous moves and then taking that to the streets and running from the police again. That was a lot of fun.

This doesn’t mean I’m not looking forward to checking Driver: San Francisco out, it does look pretty epic, I’m just being real with you and telling you what I wanted. Oh well :(. We are going to have to wait a little longer than we thought to check it out as Driver: San Francisco was pushed back to release to sometime in quarter 1 of 2010.

As always keep it real,
